Houllier to return 'upstairs' - claims rubbished

Houllier has made a fantastic recovery and is depserate to return. The only thing that is standing in his way are the doctors.

Our source at the club told us this morning: "I spoke to Gerard two days ago and he is raring to go. He is already picking the team with Phil Thompson and looking at various transfer targets for the summer."

Idle speculation about Ged's return is becoming increasingly annoying. It is also now starting to annoy Liverpool chiefs including Rick Parry. He commented: "We are getting tired of some people saying Gerard is never coming back and equally tired of others saying he is coming back tomorrow.

"The fact is that the day after the operation we said it would be between four and six months and it's so far been three and a half.

"The operation was a complete success - but of course it was a shock to Gerard's system. He'll be back when he is ready and it will be a matter of weeks rather than months.

"We regard ourselves as a family and when a member of that family is ill, the thing that matters most is to get them better."
