Houllier: We are nervous

Houllier insists that his players are doing all they can to ensure the club qualify for the Champions League next season but admits there is a touch of anxiety about their play at the moment.

"I accept the fans' disappointment, but the players are doing their best. It is just frustrating what is happening at the moment," he said.

"There was a bit of anxiety and nervousness, we gave the ball away when usually we do not do that. It is not sloppiness, just that the players lack confidence.

"There was a chance for Michael at the end when if he was confident he would normally just have volleyed it. But instead he wanted an extra touch to make sure, and it was blocked. That's what happens."
