Houllier: We must take our chances

The Reds manager feels that his side would still be in the FA Cup and would be far higher in the table if they simply took a higher proportion of their chances.

He said: "In most of our games this season we have displayed some good football. It's just been a question of putting the ball into the net.

"We were disappointed with the Crystal Palace result but that happens sometimes. We had enough chances to win that game twice.

"The criticism we have received has been fair because the results haven't always been good but it hasn't been fair in another way because of the football we have played. People who have been to the games will know we have created chances in most matches this season.

"Out of our drawn games this season, if we'd turned just three of them into wins then it would have made a huge difference to our league position. The comments about myself and my team would then have been different.

"It's a fine line between winning and losing and there's also a fine line between winning and drawing. We hope that the second part of the season will be better for us in terms of chances being turned into goals."
