Houllier We share the fans' pain

"It is our responsibilty to deliver, to give something to the fans," he said. "I know how unhappy the fans are and we share that pain. We have to make up for it now," he said.

"We have five games left, and personal consideration and egos just have to be put aside now.

"Nobody would want to repeat the experience we had after the Charlton game unless they were some sort of masochist. The way to prevent that pain is to perform.

"Do the players want to be in the Champions League next season? If so, then let's go.

"I think there was an element of people accepting what was going on against Charlton, and I can't have that.

"I want people to stand up and take responsibility. We agree we didn't perform and we accept the booing, now let's stop it."
