Houllier said: We missed Steven against Chelsea. When you have a big game you want your best players in there and Steven responds well in the big games.
"Fortunately this time he's not injured after an England game like happened twice last season when he came back from international games.
"It looked like the game against Croatia did him a lot of good and maybe that will pay off against Villa."
