Houllier won't appeal against Hyypia dismissal

The decision to abide by referee Mike Riley's ruling means that the Liverpool captain will now miss the Reds crucial clash with Merseyside rivals Everton at Goodison Park on April 19th.

Being without the Finnish defender for the Merseyside derby - with Stephane Henchoz's hopes of returning for the match still in doubt - will be a major blow for Houllier. The Reds boss, though, insists that complaining will get him nowhere.

Houllier, speaking in the Daily Post, said: "You don't get anywhere if you moan about a referee's decision all the time. I just regret the fact that we had to play 10 against 11.

"It hurts the players, the staff and the fans. But we have got to take it on the chin. The turning point was when we lost the captain and centre-half at the same time. It was a double punishment."
