Liverpool kept their Champions League hopes alive by beating Aston Villa 1-0 at Villa Park last night, a result which could be vital come the end of the season.

"It's a big result for us and it puts us a lot closer to Aston Villa," said Carra.

"One game can make a difference. If we would have lost this game people would have written us off in the race for the top-four so we have given ourselves a fighting chance.

"Aston Villa have been up there in the last few years alongside Everton but now Manchester City are up there and Tottenham are doing really well.

"There's a lot of teams up there all looking all trying to finish in the top-four. It was a lot more than just the three points tonight and we have showed we are still fighting for it.

"I haven't looked at the table for a while but this was an important win for us, and if we can beat Tottenham in our next league that will put us right up there.

"To get a last minute winner is always great and you could see at the end just what that result meant to our supporters and the players. We have had our ups and downs this season and hopefully we can go on a good run now.

"We knew how important this game was. Villa have been on a great run. They are a top team with good players and a top manager and it's always difficult to come here. There wasn't too many chances in the game but to get the win was a great result."
