While Hyypia appears to be a supremely confident character whilst he is leading the Reds on the pitch, he admits that his calm exterior belies the nerves that still remain with him before each and every match.
"I have played a long time and I am always nervous before any game, even a friendly, revealed the Finnish international defender.
"If you weren't nervous you wouldn't care about the game. A bit of nervousness is always a good sign, it helps me be focused and concentrated."
