Hyypia aims for defensive improvement

Liverpool conceded sixteen goals from set-pieces last season and it's an area the defence must improve on once the new season begins in August says Hyypia.

"It's probably an area we could do better," the Finn told official publication LFC Magazine.

"We probably haven't dealt with some corners or free-kicks into the box as well as we should have during the season.

"I've always thought, however, that if you worry or speak about something that is troubling you, and bring it all up all the time that will only affect your confidence more.

"Everybody knows that on one or two occasions in the past we've had small difficulties in these situations, but if we bring it up every day it becomes more of an issue than it needs to be and that may start to make some players more nervous to face those situations.

"If you say, 'yeah, we've made mistakes' and leave it like that while analysing what we could have done better then all of a sudden nobody feels the need to talk about it all the time and we will soon be confident in those situations again.

"If you approach things properly they will often sort themselves out."
