Hyypia hopeful of title success

Liverpool's dreams of winning their nineteenth league title all but disappeared when the Reds embarked upon a miserable run of eleven games without victory. Hyypia, though, feels that the Premiership crown will arrive at Anfield sooner rather than later.

He said: "We still have a young team and I'm still confident we will win the league while I'm at the club.

"Nobody can build a highly successful team in just a couple of years. We enjoyed the cup treble two seasons ago and I'm very happy we did it, but maybe it came a bit too early. Because of that treble, our expectations are much higher than they were two years ago.

"If we win only the Worthington Cup this season I will not think it has been a successful season.

"Now it's vital that we get into the Champions League again because every big club in Europe is there.

"We've set our goals higher. Everybody wants to improve year in and year out and where you finish in the league is the best guide to that. We were second last season and my goal was to do better. It's a long process to build a successful team but we will get there in the end."
