The Liverpool defender was substituted at half-time during the goalless draw with Charlton and will have a scan today to determine the extent of the injury.
"We will wait to see the result of the scan," confirmed Rafael Benitez.
With Daniel Agger cup-tied Benitez may have to rely on Djimi Traore to provide cover if Hyypia is ruled out.
