Mascherano is back in training and should be available for selection once his four game suspension is over.
Albert Riera is also back in training now. Unfortunately Glen Johnson is still facing a month out.
"Riera and Mascherano are training, and that is good. More or less the majority of the team are available," said Rafa Benitez.
"Glen is doing well but it's too early. It's a question of one month, maybe a little bit more.
"He will carry on resting and improving."
