Both players missed Saturday's draw with Wigan through injury and neither have recovered in time for the round of 32, first leg tie with Sparta. Joe Cole does return to the squad however.
Raul Meireles has shaken off the bug that saw him subsituted against Wigan but Christian Poulsen is absent as his wife has gone into labour.
