Insua defiant

The Reds' fate tonight is not in their own hands. If Rafael Benitez's side are to progress they need Lyon to get a result away against Fiorentina. Insua is confident that can happen.

"It's strange having to rely on another team to help us, but we have just got to go out there, try to win the game and score as many goals as we can," said the defender.

"We can only concentrate on getting the three points and then see at the end what happens in Fiorentina. When the game starts you are only thinking about your game and then at the end we will see what the situation is.

"We have to win this game and we are ready for it.

"We dropped points home and away against Lyon so we have to try to put things right now. We still have confidence we can do it.

"We have had a similar situation before in the Champions League and we qualified. We have to think about that and take inspiration from it."
