The Reds' Spanish contingent of Pepe Reina, Xabi Alonso, Luis Garcia and Fernando Morientes were all celebrating as Spain drew 1-1 in Slovakia to book their place at the World Cup 6-2 on aggregate. Xabi Alonso was the only Red to start the game although Morientes did appear as a second half subsitute.
There was joy for Harry Kewell as well as Australia qualified for their first World Cup since 1974. The Socceroos beat Uruguay 1-0 last night to level the tie at 1-1 before winning 4-3 on penalties.
