The Turkish international midfielder, who needs just one goal to equal Anfield striker Emile Heskey's Premiership record of 33 for the Foxes, firmly believes that the Midlanders can revitalise their hopes of survival with a shock win at the Walkers Stadium.

Izzet said: "There's no reason for us to fear Liverpool - if we go into the game feeling positive. We've stayed positive this season and there's no reason for us not to because there isn't much of a gap between sides at the top and those at the bottom this season.

"We've got nine games left and if we can win four or maybe five of them then we should be in the Premiership again next season. I think we showed again at Birmingham a couple of weeks ago that there's not much to choose between the sides outside the top three and those battling away at the bottom.

"The only difference is probably a bit of luck and a lack of concentration from those teams that are struggling. We know that from our own experiences because we have definitely been scoring enough goals to warrant being further up the table.

"We know we haven't been as defensively tight as we could have been but there's no point looking back and wondering what might have been. Every team's season has plenty of ifs and buts. We are determined that we won't look back on our season regretting anything."
