"I had some great times up there and I feel very lucky to have played for them," he said. "Liverpool have done really well this season but it doesn't surprise me at all.
"They are building all the time and I know Gerard Houllier wants to win the league.
"I'm sure I will get a good reception when I return because I never caused any fuss while I was there.
"I tried my hardest in every game and don't think I let anyone down. It will be nice to see a few of the lads and I still keep in touch with a few of them."
