Jewell backs Kirkland to bounce back

The Liverpool keeper, currently on loan at Wigan Athletic, has suffered a back problem which caused him to withdraw from the England squad for this week's game against Macedonia.

But the Latics boss insisted: "It is just a little bit of sciatica, the physios got together and felt it would not be a good idea to travel to London and then to Macedonia.

"He has been in all week for treatment and I don't think there is a problem for Chris."
