Jewell confident of causing an upset

The Wigan boss admits his side face an uphill task to get a result at Anfield tomorrow but says his players will go there with the confidence they can do just that.

"We're not just going there for a day out. We know they're a better team than us, but we also know you can take nothing for granted in football because nobody gave West Ham a chance at Arsenal, yet they won 1-0," said former Red Jewell.

"So while we go to Anfield knowing we are up against it, we also go there believing we can get something out of the game because, if we don't, then we might as well not turn up.

"Liverpool didn't play particularly well on Wednesday, but they still won 2-0, and that's the sign of a great team.

"At this stage of the season, it's not about performances, it's about results, and they churn them out week in and week out."
