Mellor has been linked with a possible loan move to Wigan this week but, while Jewell is on the look out for a new striker, it is very unlikely to be Mellor.
"I know we're being linked with quite a few players, but I have to say I don't know where half the stories have come from," he said.
"Of the names I've seen I'm willing to say there isn't really any chance we'll be bringing in Neil Mellor or Henrik Pedersen."
