Kenny Dalglish has named four of Monday's FA Youth Cup side in his squad for tonight's game and Johnson believes their inclusion shows the quality the club has at youth and reserve level.
"It shows everyone where the club is going and it's always nice to have the young lads competing for places. It's good for them to be involved and be around the team," said the defender.
"Like I say, it's great to have the young lads in the team. It's great for them and their careers, and competition around the place is great for any team."
