Jurgen Klopp Predicts Ederson Will Be Fit in Time for Crucial Liverpool vs Man City Clash

Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he expects Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson to be fit in time for the Citizens' trip to Anfield on Sunday.

The Brazilian was replaced at half time during City's Champions League fixture against Atalanta on Wednesday before his replacement, Claudio Bravo, was sent off – forcing right-back Kyle Walker to deputise in goal.

Despite continued uncertainty surrounding Ederson's fitness, Klopp has insisted that he expects the 26-year-old to make his return to the first team against the Reds this weekend.

"I expect him 100 percent to play. He’s an ‘all the time’ player. Last year there was something similar when he went off in a game and a couple of days later he was back on the pitch," the German claimed, as reported in the Liverpool Echo.

“Last night it was a precaution. I watched the game obviously and didn’t see any problem.”

Klopp went onto say that he has experienced similar situations during his time as a manager,

"Going in the dressing room, I know how it is there," the former Borussia Dortmund boss began. "The manager asks around 'Any issues, any issues?' and the goalkeeper goes, and I don’t know if it was like this but it is a lot of times with me like this in these situations, 'It’s a bit tight, I feel something.'

"And you say 'Okay, no risk. Come off.' These kind of things happen constantly and you have to react then. I don’t see him not playing on Sunday."

The meeting between the two sides on Sunday will be the biggest game in the Premier League title race so far.

The Reds currently top the table but City could potentially cut their lead to just three points with a victory.
