Karius dropped for Boro clash

Loris Karius has been dropped in favour of Simon Mignolet as Liverpool look to turn around their fortunes in Wednesday night's Premier League game at Middlesbrough.

The 23-year-old German stopper has been at fault in the defeat to Bournemouth and also last weekend's draw with West Ham.

Despite also suffering from poor form earlier in the season, Mignolet will be given another chance to prove himself as manager Jurgen Klopp backtracks on his decision to keep faith with his new first choice keeper.

So far this season, Karius has conceded an average of 1.2 goals per game and has kept three clean sheets in 10 games, while Mignolet has conceded an average of 1.6 goals per game and failed to keep a single clean sheet in the five games he has played.

Liverpool go into the Middlesbrough game knowing that a win would see them move back up level with Arsenal in second place, three points behind leaders Chelsea.
