Kennedy expects Reds revival

The Wolves winger, who became British football's most expensive teenager when he joined the Reds for a fee of £2m from first division Milwall at the tender age of 18, believes that a club of the stature of Liverpool will not continue to struggle in the lower-reaches of the Premiership.

Kennedy said: "Liverpool are a massive club. They have great support, great players and a great staff. Sammy Lee is a highly respected coach and the fact that he is an important part of the England set up only goes to confirm that. Sammy was brilliant with me when I went to Anfield.

"Phil Thompson is Liverpool through and through and like Sammy, he is a fine coach. Gerard Houllier is one of the most respected managers in the game.

"By their own high standards Liverpool aren't having the best of times but they have some seriously talented players out through injury which hasn't helped their cause.

"I know things will take a turn for the better with them before too much longer."
The Irishman failed to display his undoubted talent in his time at Anfield, but he insists that he has no regrets over his decision to move to the Premiership in his teenage years.

He added: "I didn't need any persuading to sign for Liverpool. I had three seasons at Anfield and every minute of it was an unforgettable experience."
