"Never mind the way Leeds are playing," said the former Anfield legend. "the way we are playing at the moment makes it a difficult game for us.

"Leeds got a great result at Old Trafford and are fighting for their lives so its equally important for them as it is for us.

"Harry Kewell returns to Elland Road for the first time and is expected to take some stick but I don't see it being a problem.

"If you're a bad player and you return to your old club you never get booed do you? It's only the good players who are booed and he's a good player.

"The game at Leeds, and every game Liverpool have left, are very important now, but it's not just the position they're in, it's the club they are playing for.

"This is Liverpool Football Club. It isn't hoped that you win, you're expected to win."
