Carragher moved into second position in the list of Liverpool's all time appearance record holders when he led the team out against Fulham last night. After the game Dalglish paid tribute to the defender.

"He's an iconic Liverpool player and it's a fitting tribute that he's the second highest ever Liverpool player with regards appearances," said the boss.

"He's got a few more left in him yet I would have thought but he's a fantastic credit to the football club. He's been here since he was 12, though he wasn't playing in the first team then. He had to wait until he was 17. Since then he's been a fantastic servant to the football club."
