The 25-year-old Australian international, speaking after being named Liverpool's Best New Signing of the Season, concedes that he failed to reach the dazzling heights of which he is capable during a difficult campaign for the Anfield giants.

Kewell, speaking to the club's official website, said: "I thought I started the season quite well and I scored a few goals but I had to change my game halfway through the season and that affected my form a little bit. I don't want to make excuses for my form but I haven't been helped by injuries this season and I know I can do a lot, lot better for Liverpool. I want to score more goals and get more involved next season and I'm certain I can do that.

"I can promise the supporters who are reading this that you'll see the real Harry Kewell next season. This season wasn't a great season for Liverpool, we all know that, but if you want to know if I regret coming here - no way. I'm still loving every minute of being a Liverpool player."
