Kewell delighted with dream Anfield move

Despite an indifferent start to the current campaign that sees the Reds languishing in eighth place in the Premiership, Kewell can hardly contain his delight at finally pulling on the famous shirt of his boyhood heroes.

"I'm loving it here. Working with this bunch of players every day is great because they are all so professional. It was always my dream to play for Liverpool, but the reality is actually better than the dream," enthused Kewell.

"We have a chance to be successful in a lot of competitions this season and we must try and do as well as we can in all of them.

"I know all about how important European football is to Liverpool because I used to watch this club in Europe when I was a young boy.

"I'm looking forward to making my Anfield debut in Europe tomorrow night and I hope we can get the result we need to take us into the next round.

"I know from experience that the early rounds of the UEFA Cup are difficult. I played in some tough matches when I was at Leeds. There are no easy games these days and Olimpija will look to make life difficult for us tomorrow.

"If we perform as we know we can then we should be good enough to get the right result."
