Kewell hoping to put final disappointments behind him

Harry Kewell limped off during both of Liverpool's major finals last season, the 3-2 Carling Cup final defeat to Chelsea and the European Cup final success. Kewell is hoping to play a major part against West Ham to make up for those disappointments.

"When you look at it, this is really going to be my first final," said the Australian winger.

"It's been an alright season for me. If I'd scored a few more goals I'd be happier. Hopefully everything is going to go well over the weekend and I'm going to feel a really big part of it.

"I still get reminded about what happened in the Champions League final. But I've turned the corner, which you have to. You have to forget about the past. Even though it was a lovely past, to be part of that victory, from a personal point of view it wasn't. Now I've a great game coming up at the weekend which will make some personal history.

"I believed I would get the chance again. If you want to play at this level for a big club like Liverpool you've got to keep working hard and training well to reach finals.

"I was a little disappointed with myself in the semi-final because I had to come off with a knock. I was really enjoying myself out there, the atmosphere was fantastic."
