The mercurial Australian international was linked with a whole host of clubs before he decided to sign for Gerard Houllier's side, with Arsenal seen as his most likely destination at one stage.

Despite an inconsistent start to the campaign that sees the Reds lagging six points behind the Gunners, Kewell has made it clear that he is more then happy to be part of what he believes to be a bright future at Liverpool.

Kewell said: "I know what people are saying, and I know that no-one is going to give me time at Liverpool. I expect that but I'm prepared for the worst things possible and I'm not fussed by what people say.

"There have been a few teething troubles, but there's a lot of confidence in the team and I still think there's a long way to go. But I know I've made the right decision. Coming to Liverpool is the best thing that has happened to me, the best decision I could have made.

"I had some good offers but I knew Gerard Houllier could take my football that step closer to what I want to achieve. I came to Liverpool because I could see the potential, I came because I want to be part of that and help to bring success.

"I have faith in the manager. He knows his stuff and I know he'll take me where I want to go."
