The 24-year-old will claim the shirt that last season belonged to Czech star Vladimir Smicer, but he knows it is bigger names from the past that he must measure up to at Anfield.

Kewell, speaking to Sky Sports, said: "My lucky number is seven and I used to play in seven when I was young.

"Vladimir Smicer has agreed to give up the shirt which I'm thankful to him for. He didn't have to do it so I'm grateful to him.

"I accept it's a big number to take on -- but I'm looking forward to the pressure. I thrive on things like that and I want to wear the shirt Keegan and Dalglish did and do it justice."
