Kewell says the arrival of Rafael Benitez has given everyone at Anfield a major boost and, coupled with Owen and Gerrard's desire to stay, this means good times are just around the corner for Liverpool.
Kewell said: "Persuading Stevie and Michael to stay is a massive boost for me personally and the club overall. They are two great players. They enjoy playing for the club so it will be a big benefit for us.
"It would have been a big blow for me to think they could have left after my first season here but they have decided not to.
"Liverpool are still a big club, a great club, and anyone would love to play for them. That's why I'm here.
"It will take us time to adjust to the manager's new ideas but I have to say it is already looking good. It will take us a while to adjust but when we do it will work well. These days you have to be fast and pass the ball quickly. That is what we will try to do."
