Kewell to be kind to Australia

While the Anfield faithful may feel the 25-year-old winger would be better served finding some much-needed form for the Reds rather than competing in a meaningless competition against unheralded opposition, the former Leeds man insists he is fully committed to the Aussie cause.

Kewell said: I have always said I will be there for Australia when it matters - and I have been. That of course applies for the Solomons matches.

"It amazes me when people knock nations like this when lately at every World Cup or European Championship we see supposedly weak countries beat the world's best.

"Look how well Croatia, Senegal and Greece have done over the last 10 years. In football you don't take anything for granted."
