Kirkland dismisses Coventry switch

The injury-prone Liverpool keeper insists he would rather fight for his first team place at Anfield, than go back to his former club.

"I have to say that kind of talk is complete nonsense - all I've ever wanted to do is play for Liverpool Football Club," he said.

"The gaffer has told all of us we'll all be given an opportunity and then it will up to ourselves.

"I'm confident when I'm fully fit I'll get a few games and then it's up to me to take my chance. But there's no question of me thinking of moving.

"The gaffer has told everyone they've got to fight for their place. I'm just going to knuckle down and try and impress him."
