Kirkland ready for Arsenal

Defeat would see the Merseyside team fall twelve points behind Arsenal, but Kirkland is still confident of success.

Kirkland said:"We're very disappointed not to take the three points against Blackburn yesterday but we have a big game at the weekend to look forward to now and we have to pick ourselves up quickly for that one.

"Things are not going our way at the moment but we'll work as hard as we can on the training pitch to try and put things right.

"We started yesterday's game really well and deserved to be ahead. If we'd scored a second goal it may have killed them off.

"Maybe we got nervous in the second half. You see it happen so many times in football but it was up to us to make sure we finished the game off, but unfortunately it was another one of those days when the chances didn't go in for us.

"If we want to win the league then we can't afford to be dropping points like this. We need to start on a winning streak as soon as possible.

"Sunday's game will be tough but we'll be up for it and we'll give it our best shot. There's no point in us feeling sorry for ourselves. The manager and staff are right behind us and we're still all confident that we'll be able to turn things around."
