After making only 31 appearances in his three years at Anfield, 15 of them in the Premiership, the young keeper is now out of action with a back injury.
"I know I have had injuries and I know people are frustrated, but I can say that nobody is more frustrated than me," he said. "I'd even play for free if it meant I could stay injury-free.
"If someone said to me that I would have no injuries if I didn't get paid then I'd take it, without a doubt."
