Klopp blames dry Anfield pitch

Jurgen Klopp was quick to blame the dry pitch for Liverpool's lacklustre goalless draw with Southampton at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
"I know nobody wants to hear it but IÂ’m brave enough to say it," said the Reds boss

"The pitch was really dry

We gave all the water we had and after 15 minutes it was really dry because of the wind

You could see it was difficult and a lot of passes you thought “why are they playing this?
"In a possession game you need to have the best, if possible, and in a home game especially you need the best circumstances

Today we couldnÂ’t have this

That is nobodyÂ’s fault

Everybody tried everything and it didnÂ’t work out."
The result leaves Liverpool in third place in the Premier League, although Man City or Man Utd could leapfrog them if they win their games in hand, and even Arsenal could finish above them.
