"We did well as a partnership today, just as we did against Galatasaray the last time we played together," said the Dutchman.
"We worked really hard and had a lot of movement up front, Steven Gerrard was everywhere as well.
"Everybody tried to work and do his job. There were a lot of good goals and good action.
"It was an important win to give the crowd something.
"The first half was really great and we could have scored one or two more goals, but 3-1 is still a good result.
"There's Bordeaux then Reading to come, and it will give us more confidence to win those games."
