Kuyt still confident of away success

Liverpool's 0-0 draw at Middlesbrough on Saturday ended a run of five successive away defeats but the goalless draw means the Reds have failed to score in six successive away games- their worst run since 1991-92, and haven't won in seven away games this season.

Despite their poor away showing Dirk Kuyt believes the Liverpool players have the mental strength not to let their recent results faze them and they will soon start reproducing their home form on their travels.

"It's been lots of games away from home now without a goal but we have to back ourselves because we have top quality players," said the Dutch international.

"Mentally we are very strong but we just have to keep making the chances and we will soon start scoring the goals.

"We've played really well at home this season and if we play like we did at Middlesbrough I'm sure it won't be long before we get our first away win. It's taking too long, though.

"I don't know why we can't score but this match was very different from the other ones because on this occasion we played very well.

"We've spoken about the lack of goals as a team but I'm sure they'll come. A point here is two dropped for us, but we have to believe in ourselves and that we can catch the others.

"We worked really hard and we deserved to win but you can't win if you don't score. Although we played well, that was again the problem here.

"We had plenty of chances but we had to take one of them, we were much the better team but football is all about getting goals and we were unlucky."
