Liverpool's new number 16 is expected to just be cover for Daniel Agger, Martin Skrtel and Jamie Carragher. However, the Greek international aims to earn himself a regular starting place with his performances.
"This is a huge opportunity for me," said Kyrgiakos.
"When I found out Liverpool wanted me I didn't have to think about it at all.
"I'm 30 now so it's a fantastic chance for me to join a club like Liverpool. I want to establish myself as a starting player and I hope to help the club achieve the goals it has already set.
"I believe I am at the best age for me to take on this challenge because of the experience I now have.
"I'll try to do my best and then it will be the manager's decision.
"My time in Scotland will help because it is a similar style of football to here.
"I believe I have the qualities needed to play in the Premier League.
"I'm good in the air, strong and physical. I am aggressive in the way I challenge for the ball but I stay within the rules of the game."
