Lawro: Heskey is unique

"I don't know whether Gerard Houllier triggered Heskey's latest response when he came out last week and said new signings should cause players to rise to the challenge, but Sunday's performance was certainly a timely response from the big man," said Lawro.

"What Gerard Houllier realises is that Heskey is the only player of his type at the club, and on his day he's the only player of his type in the country and very difficult for Sven-Goran Eriksson to leave out.

"So if he can get some consistency, Heskey will have a role - and so a future - at Liverpool."
