The player says he belives he would should have fought for his place at Anfield instead of seeking a move for further footballing action.

Talking to a French newspaper, he said, "I should never have met with Rafael Benitez and asked to loan me to another club. I should have stayed at Liverpool."

And Le Tallec added that is now enjoying French football at Sochaux and wishes to settle.

"At Sochaux I feel very well. The first part of the season has not been fantastic, but it is improving. I believe in myself and am working hard. I believe we can achieve something great with Sochaux. I am fed up with moving, I want to settle in France. I already talked to chairman Jean-Claude Plessis. Here, I feel free," he added.
