The Reds were involved in a title challenge for the first time in years and have racked up their highest points total since the Premiership began. The improvement shown has been a big plus for Lee but he also insists no-one at Anfield will call this season a success because Liverpool have lifted no silverware.
"It is about winning things at this football club - and we are fully aware that we haven't this season - but everyone would have to agree that there has been an improvement," said the assistant manager.
"If at the end of that improvement we can get even better and maybe even win trophies, then that is certainly what we are looking for.
"Our fans are very supportive - they know what we are after. I think they will have seen the improvement but no one can rest on their laurels."
