The Liverpool legends overcame Everton, Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United to win the Sheffield Masters and qualify for the grand final on September 4th.

Liverpool drew 2-2 with Wednesday in the first game with Masters regular John Durnin and Mike Marsh scoring for the Reds. The second game saw the Reds hammer Sheff Utd 7-0 with goals from Durnin (3), Paul Walsh (2), and John Aldridge (2).

The final league game saw a highly enjoyable 5-0 rout of Everton with Ian Rush getting two with Michael Thomas, Marsh and Walsh scoring the others.

In the final Liverpool met Sheffield Wednesday and went 2-0 down before pulling it back to 2-2 through Walsh and John Wark to take the game to penalties.

Bob Bolder was the hero in goal as he stepped up to cries of "Remember Dudek" from the Liverpool fans. Bolder saved two penalties just like Dudek in Istanbul to give the Reds the regional title and a place in the final. Durnin, Walsh, Wark, Rush and Nigel Spackman scored penalties for the Reds.
