Let battle commence

They earned three points and two broken legs during their last visit and have suffered in the Premiership since.

Gerard Houllier and Graeme Souness had a public spat following the controversial game last month and have not spoken since, so it will be interesting to see if the fireworks fly again on Wednesday night.

It will also be interesting to see if Souness dare play Lucas Neill, who was massively criticised for his lunging tackle on Jamie Carragher.

This has always been the least important of the domestic competitions, particularly for clubs involved in European action.

But Houllier has always insisted it is just as important as all the others and has lifted it twice in his five years in charge at Liverpool.

I'm sure the lads will remain composed and professional out there on Wednesday night. Houllier may rest one or two key players, but the eleven that run out onto the park will give 100% and all being well take us through to the next round.

Will we beat Blackburn... again?
