Leverkusen - We're not scared of Owen

Bayer's general manager Reiner Calmund insists the Germans are not scared of Michael Owen.

Despite destroying the Germans while playing for England on their home soil and his threatening pace and record, Calmund believes Leverkusen can handle him.

"Owen in particular killed Germany in the World Cup. He destroyed our national side and there has been a lot of fear about him in Germany. But that is in the past now," said Calmund.

"Lucio shackled them both on his own. He stood up to Heskey's physical challenge and he also matched Owen's pace.

"He will have Nowotny back for the return leg and that is why we believe we have the perfect answer to the Liverpool threat. We know Liverpool's record for scoring on the break but these two players can keep them in check."
