Liverpool fan hoping for derby start

Warnock returned to the Liverpool first team for the trip to Leverkusen and he hopes his form since then will see him rewarded with a first derby appearance.

Warnock's Liverpool career looked to be over last season but he has flourished under Rafael Benitez and has already made 25 first team appearances this season and he is hoping for number 26 on Sunday. As a boyhood Liverpool fan Warnock admits that playing in the derby would be a dream come true.

"It would be the fulfillment of a boyhood dream for me to play in the derby. My first dream was just to play for Liverpool but the second would have to be playing in a derby against Everton." he says.

"Where I live, in Ormskirk, I'd say there is probably more Evertonian's than Liverpudlians but you still feel the intense rivalry and that gets stronger as derby day approaches.

"I was at a school earlier in the week for an anti-bullying campaign and the kids with Everton shirts on were giving me a bit of stick saying they are going to win and all that.

"It seems as though everyone has been talking about it for weeks but for the players it was only after the game against Blackburn that we could really think about it."
