Liverpool are making attempts to sign Italian playmaker Cristiano Doni, claims the player's agent, which if true, suggests the Reds may be cooling their interest in Lee Bowyer.

"For Doni the Liverpool hypothesis remains," said Paolo Conti.
"The English club are very interested in my assistance and they are in frequent contact with Atalanta."
Conti added: "The interest from Liverpool is flattering for sure but it is considered a second choice as he prefers Serie A."
