Carlsberg in talks with Reds over new deal
As exclusively revealed on Kop Talk earlier this year, the club are not prepared to just accept an average offer and are indeed hoping to break previous club records with a massive new deal worth around £5million a year.

Carlsberg have sponsored the club since 1999 and that deal worth a poxy £5million over 3 years expires at the end of this season. Carlsberg are talking to the club regarding a new deal and a couple of other major brands have also expressed an interest.

Meanwhile the Government are unlikely to introduce new laws to prevent companies such as Carlsberg from sponsoring football clubs. There have been fears that the Government would ban such sponsorships in the interests of children but they have played down those concerns saying that they are always reviewing proposals but that there are no plans to ban alcohol related sponsors in the game at the moment.
