Liverpool linked with Roma ace

Liverpool have stepped-up their interest in Roma defender Jonathan Zebina, according to reports originating in Italy.

The 24-year-old has been on Gerard Houllier's potential targets list for some time and it is claimed that an £8million bid by the boss was rejected for him last season with the Italians saying they would only do business if Sami Hyypia went the other way.
Zebina, who was in a car accident earlier this month, has indicated that he wants to leave Roma next year.
Reports in Italy claim Roma are still keen on Hyypia and one or two other Liverpool players.
